Qualtrics survey tool now available for faculty and staff

Faculty and staff have a new survey tool at their disposal available through Information Technology Services.  Qualtrics is a comprehensive survey tool with more than 90 question types, simplified reporting tools, online training modules, a library of surveys to peruse and so much more.

Faculty and staff can begin using Qualtrics immediately by visiting survey.ksu.edu.  Graduate students will need to ask their major professor or supervisor to request access by completing the service request form online.

“Qualtrics has been in use in the College of Business and organizations such as the Office of Educational Innovation and Evaluation.  We are very pleased to now be able to offer Qualtrics to all our faculty and staff  as a robust and versatile tool to foster research at home and with collaborators around the world,” said Provost and Senior Vice President April Mason.

With the availability of Qualtrics, Axio Survey will be sunset. K-Staters can continue to create surveys in Axio until July 20. Data files and reports will be available from Axio Survey until Dec. 31.

According to Ken Stafford, chief information officer, “Faculty and staff have been requesting features in Axio Survey for some time. Instead of updating Axio, which would require hours of programming, ITS with the input of units across campus looked for a survey tool that was easy to use, with a variety of question types, feature-rich reporting tools, numerous ways for individuals to respond, and broadly used by universities across the globe.” Stafford also commented that faculty participating in the pilot phase have been very positive about Qualtrics.

Lauri Baker, assistant professor in communications and ag education, had access to Qualtrics at a previous institution. She commented, “I have used Qualtrics’ heatmapping feature in some of my research evaluating websites. This feature offers a numerical and visual depiction of data, which makes it easy to explain to scholarly and lay audiences.”

Training sessions are being planned for summer and fall. For more information about Qualtrics and a link to online tutorials, see the Accessing Qualtrics article in K-State’s Knowledge Base.
