The Universal Design Online content Inspection Tool (pronounced “You Do It”) allows faculty to identify accessibility issues in K-State Online courses. UDOIT will scan a course, generate a report, and provide resources on how to address common accessibility issues specific to the Canvas environment.

UDOIT identifies errors and provides suggestions in the following areas of a K‑State Online course:

  • Announcements
  • Assignments
  • Discussions
  • Files (HTML files)
  • Pages
  • Syllabus
  • Module URLs (web addresses)

UDOIT checks for appropriate use of:

  • Headings in page structure
  • Alternative text for images
  • Table headers
  • Color contrast
  • Descriptive link text
  • Video captions

Note: External documents and some video/audio files cannot be examined. At this time, the UDOIT tool is unable to check the accessibility of files such as PDF, Word, and PowerPoint. UDOIT is unable to check Mediasite videos. If you would like assistance with the accessibility of these types of files, please contact K‑State’s Student Access Center at accesscenter@k-state.edu.

For step-by-step instructions on how to use the UDOIT tool, view the UDOIT help article in Service Now.

Kansas State University is committed to providing access to its services and activities. If you have questions or need help with accessibility, contact K‑State’s Student Access Center accesscenter@k-state.edu.
