Check out the new Waters 231 technology classroom renovation

A big project this summer was the complete renovation and remodeling of the Waters 231 technology classroom. With faculty and student input, the Division of Facilities and iTAC have planned and created an updated space for teaching and learning.

Campus printing just got easier in computing labs

Over spring break, Information Technology Services performed some needed improvements to the Pharos printing system used in computing labs across campus. Spring training for using K-State’s technology classrooms

K-State faculty/staff who will be using the university technology classrooms for the first time this spring must attend a short training session before they can request keys for those classrooms.

Instructional technology staff will be available to provide training through the next few weeks and after the semester has begun.   • An overview of the different kinds of equipment and software available
  • How to turn on and shut off the systems
  • How to properly lock/unlock the classroom and podium
  • Policies and procedures

Online EDUCAUSE conference sessions to be videostreamed Nov. 7-9

K-Staters are welcome to attend the free, live-streamed sessions of the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference, Nov. 7-9. Information for each session is in the EDUCAUSE 2012 Online Program.  Join us to view all or as many of the sessions as suits your schedule. The EDUCAUSE programs are available:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 7 — 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., 301 Hale Library
  • Thursday, Nov. 8 — 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., 401 Hale Library
  • Friday, Nov. 9 — 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 301 Hale Library

17 more basic technology classrooms completed this summer

In May 2011, Information Technology Services began updating technology in many of the general-use classrooms on campus. Since that time, new equipment has been installed in a total of 42 rooms in 11 different buildings. This includes a projector, a simple control panel, switching equipment, and sound amplification. These systems are based on new digital standards that allow for HDMI, VGA, Component and Composite inputs to be connected. The majority of the classrooms that were updated also had new white boards installed provided by the Division of Facilities.

Training for using K-State’s technology classrooms

This is a friendly reminder that all K-State faculty/staff who will be using the university technology classrooms for the first time this fall must attend a short training session before they can request keys for those classrooms. Once training is completed, instructors can request keys through Facilities Key Control in Dykstra. For more information, see the Technology Classrooms website.

These one-time training sessions include:

  • An overview of the different kinds of equipment and software available
  • How to turn on and shut off the systems
  • How to properly lock/unlock the classroom and podium
  • Policies and procedures

Instructional technology staff will be available to provide training through the next few weeks and after the semester has begun. Fill out the Technology Classroom Training Request Form and someone will contact you to schedule a session. Once you have been trained in one classroom, you will be cleared for access to all other technology classrooms.

Instructors who have received training in the past are advised to attend another session if they are teaching in a different classroom or if they need a refresher on the equipment.
