Dec. 17: Intro to Microsoft Visio Pro

An introductory training for Microsoft Visio Pro is scheduled 1:30-3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, on Zoom(Session is not live until the scheduled time.)

About Microsoft Visio Pro

Microsoft Visio Pro is a common diagramming tool that enables the creation of vector graphics.

Some common examples include the following:

  • Flowcharts to describe work or research processes
  • Basic diagrams
  • BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) diagrams (with built-in validation based on rule sets)
  • Database systems
  • Floor plans
  • Network designs
  • Data-created visuals (with uploaded Excel spreadsheets used in Visio templates from MS Visio Online and/or the Excel backstage)
  • Automapping of websites to three levels
  • And more

Gary Pratt selected as Executive Committee of APLU’s Commission on Information, Measurement, and Analysis

Gary Pratt, Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer for K-State, has been selected to serve on the Executive Committee of the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU) Commission on Information, Measurement, & Analysis (CIMA). Pratt will serve on the committee for three years.

The executive committee is responsible for positioning the commission as a vehicle to share, discuss, and disseminate innovative ways to combine and leverage data across campus to advance student and institutional success.

“K-State’s presence at the national level will help keep us in the forefront of the conversations in many areas related to data management, governance, analytics, and associated practices,” commented Pratt. Microsoft Learn for Educators program available at K-State

Kansas State University offers students a unique opportunity to learn about new technology in cloud-based software management through its participation in the Microsoft Learn for Educators program. With access to the tools and materials included in the program, students can obtain industry-recognized Microsoft Certifications. These certifications augment a student’s existing degree path and validate the skills needed to succeed across various technical careers.

Oct. 1: Intro to Adobe Photoshop 2021

Are you a graduate student who uses digital imagery (photos, data visualizations, diagrams, and others) in a master’s thesis, master’s report, or doctoral dissertation (in an ETDR application)? Are you a faculty or staff member who integrates digital visuals into slideshows, an imageset, or videos?

Join this “Intro to Adobe Photoshop” session on Oct. 1 (Fri.), from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. on Zoom. This session introduces Adobe Photoshop 2021 as the leading software for editing and creating raster images (although it can output vector ones, too). This session will introduce the general graphical user interface (GUI) for this software. Then, it covers some basic uses and shows some walk-throughs of work sequences.

New GlobalProtect app

On Nov. 12, 2020, Apple released its latest operating system, macOS Big Sur. The Division of Information Technology (IT) has been waiting to release an update of the GlobalProtect (VPN) app that supports Big Sur. An issue has been reported when using chromium-based browsers like Google Chrome. The browser experiences connection reset before proceeding to some sites. CRM introduction training scheduled for Fall 2020

CRM Introduction Training has been scheduled for the Fall 2020 semester starting on September 28.

Sessions will be held on:

  • Sept. 28 – 1:30-3 p.m.
  • Oct. 14 – 10-11:30 a.m.
  • Oct. 26 – 1:30-3 p.m.
  • Nov. 11 – 10-11:30 a.m.

All training sessions will be presented on Zoom.  The Zoom session ID will be shared on the morning of the training to attendees. Sessions last for 1.5 hours and are limited to 20 people per session. You must be enrolled in the session to attend.

To sign up for training, sign in to HRIS.

  1. Under Self Service, choose Learning and Development, then KSU Training Enrollment.
  2. On the Request Training Enrollment page, look for CRM Introduction WIT310.
  3. Select View Available Sessions.
  4. Select the Session you would like to attend.
  5. Select Continue.
