Live SecureIT a success; more training in December

Last Friday was the first offering of the live edition of “SecureIT @ Kansas State”, the K-State presentation created to fulfill the requirement that all State of Kansas employees be given cybersecurity training by June 30, 2011.

With 102 employees in attendance, the IT security team considers this first session a great success and will offer two more sessions in December.

While the majority of K-State employees are expected to take the online training that will be available at the end of the semester, these live trainings are a great alternative for employees who would like to be able to ask questions, or who don’t spend the majority of their work time behind a computer.

Faculty and staff can now order a K-State parking permit online using HRIS Employee Self Service. Parking Services announced the upcoming change May 13, and more than 600 faculty/staff permits have already been ordered online since the service went live June 1.

The ordering process is quick and easy. Faculty/staff may reorder the same parking permit as the previous year or select something different. Payment options include payroll deduction, credit card, check, or cash. After completing the online process, a confirmation e-mail is sent to the user.

Employees: Get paycheck details via Employee Self Service starting Feb. 5

(Editor’s note: The Division of Human Resources provided information for this article.)

Beginning with the pay period ending Jan. 23 that will be paid Feb. 5, Employee Self Service will be the only way to view paycheck (aka “pay advice”) details. Employees will no longer receive a paper pay advice via U.S. Postal Service. Pay advice/paycheck details are normally available via K-State’s Employee Self Service a week prior to payday.

For the few employees who receive a paper paycheck, those will continue to be mailed as usual. For more information, contact your department’s personnel specialist or call Human Resources at 785-532-6277.

K-State employees can access, change personal data in Employee Self Service

All K-State employees have access to Human Resource Information System (HRIS) Employee Self Service using their K-State eID (electronic ID) and password. Employee Self Service empowers employees to have direct ownership of their personal data in HRIS. It is accessible 24/7 to each employee, except during daily back-up and system maintenance.

Employees have the ability to:

  • Update W-4 tax and/or K-4 tax information, direct deposit data, home address, phone numbers, emergency contacts, marital status, and ethnic group.
  • View paycheck information, leave-accrual balances, benefit summaries, personal data, work information, total compensation, and training summaries.
  • Enroll in training sessions offered by the Division of Human Resources, Employee Relations and Training, and other departments.
