Deadline for IT Awards nominations extended to Jan. 25

Is there an outstanding information technology employee or technology team that has been especially helpful to you and your unit? Do you want to recognize that person for his/her contributions to technology advancement at K-State? Nominate them for a 2010 Information Technology Award! The nominations deadline has been extended until Jan. 25, so get that nomination in before midnight that day. Nomination form links can be found at www.k-state.edu/infotech/itawards/nominations.htm.

Reminders for January: TSC move, IT awards nominations, and more

1. Client Services (formerly the Technology Service Center) is currently moving from East Stadium to 214 Hale Library (by the IT Help Desk). Repair of personal/home computers is on hold during the move, and will resume Thursday, Jan. 14, at the new location. For details about payment methods and other changes, see the Dec. 22 news article.

2. The nomination deadline for IT awards is Monday, Jan. 18. All K-Staters can nominate IT staff for the award categories. For details, see the previous article and the IT Awards and Recognition website.

Nominations open Dec. 16 for 2010 IT awards

Is there an outstanding information technology employee or technology team that has been especially helpful to you and your unit? K-State student wins innovation award for electronic thesis

An electronic thesis submitted by K-State student Lara Fackrell has won an Innovative ETD (Electronic Theses and Dissertations) award from the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD). The NDLTD is an international organization dedicated to promoting the adoption, creation, use, dissemination, and preservation of electronic theses and dissertations.

Fackrell, a graduate student in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional and Community Planning, completed her Master of Landscape Architecture degree in May 2008. Her thesis, Equestrian communities: Design Features and Development Process (PDF), was submitted electronically and can be viewed in the K-State Research Exchange, a service that provides permanent access to scholarly materials created by K-State faculty and students.

In her thesis, Fackrell employed color, multi-column layouts, visual motifs, maps, photographs, and illustrations to create a dramatic and engaging research paper. Continue reading “K-State student wins innovation award for electronic thesis”

Nominations close Jan. 11 for IT awards

Is there an outstanding IT employee or team that has been especially helpful to you and your unit? Do you want to recognize that person for his/her contributions to IT at K-State? Nominate them for a 2009 IT Award! Nominations are open through Jan. 11, so start thinking about whom you would like to see recognized at the upcoming awards ceremony.

All K-State faculty/staff and students are encouraged to submit nominations for IT employees who represent an activity, service, or contribution considered “above and beyond the call of duty”.
