NVivo 10: “Working with Documents and Managing NVivo Projects” March 14

QSR International will give a webinar training presentation on “Working with Documents and Managing NVivo Projects” 2-4 p.m. Friday, March 14, in Hale 301 The presenter is Cynthia Jacobs of QSR International.  All are welcome to attend.  No RSVP is required.

This session will cover the following topics:

  • Project setup, project log, save and backup procedures
  • Importing documents and PDFs
  • Coding strategies
  • Node structures
  • Coding using Text Analysis Queries

“Getting Started with NVivo” presentation Feb. 14

QSR International will introduce “Getting Started with NVivo” 2-4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, in Room 301 of Hale Library.  This interactive presentation (and webinar) will introduce attendees to how to set up a project in NVivo and then use the tool to explore the data. The presenter will be Cynthia Jacobs of QSR International.

The presentation will cover:

  • The NVivo workspace
  • How to create a project
  • How to import documents (including importation of data through NCapture)
  • How to create memos and annotations
  • How to identify themes in the data
  • How to set up data “nodes”
  • How to apply text analysis tools
  • Other capabilities (such as using survey data)

Snow Leopard operating system coming for Macs

Apple announced on June 8 that Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard will be shipping in September. It includes a number of new refinements including a smaller footprint, faster joining to a wireless network, faster wake-up and shutdown, quicker Time Machine backup, faster installation, PDF text selection, OpenCL, 64-bit support and 32-bit compatible, and Grand Central Dispatch. Macintosh monthly user group meetings start Sept. 13

Meetings for the Kaw River Macintosh Users’ Group (KRMUG) are listed below for the fall semester. (Visit the website for possible date changes throughout the year.)  The group’s purpose is to instruct and inform users of Macintosh computers on software and hardware issues, as well as provide a community for the sharing of ideas and experiences. Meetings are typically 10 a.m.-noon on the second Saturday of each month, in Bluemont Hall Room 16.

All meetings are open to the public, and membership is $10 a year. Guest visits are welcome.  For details, see the  KRMUG website.
