Secure disposal options for paper, eWaste throughout the year

K-State’s annual Shred Day is past, but departments don’t need to wait for the next event in October 2014.  Secure disposal of both paper and electronic media is available throughout the year to K-State departments.

A. Secure disposal of paper documents. Departments can contact Document Resources, 785-537-1222, to make an appointment to collect sensitive papers for shredding. Oct 16: Shred Day on the Manhattan and Salina campuses

K-State is planning its third annual Shred Day for university paper records:

  • 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, on the Manhattan campus
  • 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Oct. 16, on the Salina campus

Departments will be asked to place paper documents with personal identity information – Social Security numbers, birth dates, credit card numbers, etc. – in designated bags to be delivered to one of two trucks located on campus.

Departments: Use university procedures when disposing of IT equipment

With the announcement of the “Free Recycling for Education” program offered by Apple in last week’s InfoTech Tuesday newsletter, Harvard Townsend, chief information security officer, and Fran Willbrant, university controller, would like to remind campus departments that university procedures must be followed before utilizing this service.

Free document shredding April 18 in Manhattan

A free “Shred Day” is being offered by Document Resources Inc. 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at 414 South 5th St. in Manhattan, so people can bring their personal paper documents from home and have them shredded at no charge.
