Electrical engineering faculty member to receive Paslay Professorship

Cat cropCaterina Scoglio, professor of electrical and computer engineering, is the recipient of the LeRoy and Aileen Paslay Professorship in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The endowment was established by the late LeRoy Paslay, 1930 bachelor’s and 1934 master’s graduate of Kansas State University in electrical engineering, and his late wife, Aileen.

The fund honors the Paslays, and provides financial assistance to the College of Engineering in the form of a salary supplement to an outstanding professor in the department of electrical and computer engineering.

Scoglio holds a doctorate in electronics engineering from the University of Rome “La Sapienza,” Italy, and is co-director of the Network Science and Engineering Group in the electrical and computer engineering department. The group conducts research in network theory, while developing solutions to real-world problems in the computer network and infectious diseases modeling fields. General areas of interest include network theory, complex networks modeling and analysis, as well as computer network design and optimization.

A principal investigator of projects supported by the National Academies Keck Futures Initiative, the National Science Foundation, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Scoglio also has been a co-investigator on projects funded by the Office of Naval Research and U.S. Department of Energy.

She is currently chair of the technical committee on medical and health care systems of the Control Systems Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and has been a past area editor of the Elsevier Computer Networks Journal.
