mber Dr. Behrooz Mirafzal, three universities, Kansas State University, Northeastern University, and the Missouri University of Science and Technology plan to form a new Industry University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC), called Center for On-the-Move Energy Technologies (COMET). The primary goal of COMET is to create a framework for engineers, scientists, and graduate students to find innovative solutions for the challenges that on-the-move industries face. Senior Valerie Binns, senior in electrical engineering, received the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for the fall semester. She plans to attend KU Medical School in Fall 2017. Valerie was very active in undergraduate research with the biomedical engineering group under Dr. Warren.

Steve Booth Retires after 32 Years
Steve Booth, ECE’s Electronics Technician retired after 32 years of dedicated service Dec 16th 2016.
Steve has been critical over the years in setting up labs, creating kits, fixing equipment, and helping in every way possible.
Steve plans on spending the first year of his retirement remodeling his home and spending time with family.
