Eta Kappa Nu (HKN), the electrical and computer engineering honor society, is pleased to announce that the 2016 ECE Distinguished Faculty Award Recipient is Dr. Andrew Rys. All students in the department were given the opportunity to vote on professors in the department and Dr. Rys received the most votes. He was presented with the award last night at the HKN and IEEE Spring Feast.

Whitney Cox, senior in Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been awarded an Undergraduate Research Experience Award from the Engineering Research and Graduate Programs office for the 2016-2017 academic school year. Whitney’s research adviser is Dr. Punit Prakash. The title of her research project will be “Evaluation of directional microwave ablation antennas in an in vivo animal model.”

Scholarships were on the line as 140 graduate students presented their research and scholarly work in the annual graduate student research forum, K-State Graduate Research, Arts and Discovery, or GRAD Forum, formally known as K-State Research Forum, March 30 in the Engineering Complex.

Winners received scholarships of $500 for first place, $250 for second place and $125 for third place.

 Every year K-state celebrates our graduate students with a week of events.  This year the college of engineering schedule photos of research groups, had an Awards ceremony, provided snacks and gifts during an open house with Associate Dean Noel Schultz, offered fun photos of groups of students through a photo booth, and had an ice cream social.

The students featured are Nazif Faqiry (PhD Student) and Rahul Devrapaully (Masters Student).

NetSe research on contact tracing was featured on Science360. Drs. Caterina Scoglio and Faryad Darabi Sahneh with PhD student Narges Montazeri.
