Creating ebooks on an iPad

iPad options are springing up on the app store for ebook creation. Check out the Book Creator for iPad, a $4.99 app in the app store. This app uses the epub standard to create photo/art books, text-based books, albums, and almost any kind of book imaginable.

Content options for creating rich ebooks include:

  • The ability to select from more than 50 font options
  • Importing photos, videos, music, and recorded speech
  • Adding voiceover from within the app

Creative options for this app at K-State could be to create children’s books, an underground literary art magazine, course note presentation, livening up and delivering presentations in a unique way, and so much more. This is a simple to use, inexpensive app for the iPad with the basics for ebook creation; features may not be that of a full-fledged desktop-based ebook creation tool.

Below is a link to a sample ebook compiled using the Book Creator for iPad app. To view it, open this article in Safari on an iPad and click the link. It will then open in iBooks.

If you find a cool way to use ebook publishing apps on the iPad, share your discoveries and email me at edover@ksu.edu.
