Windows 10 update for university-owned computers

by Eric Dover

On July 29, Microsoft will be releasing its new operating system, Windows 10. For university-owned computers, it is recommended not to upgrade to the new operating system for at least six months or until K-State can thoroughly test university systems compatibility with the new operating system.

Microsoft may be marketing that Windows 10 is available as a free upgrade for a limited time, but this does not apply to university-owned computers. Through K-State’s campus agreement with Microsoft, we have access to all of the latest operating systems as a part of the campus agreement program. There is no need to get the free version from Microsoft.

If you have questions about Windows 10, please contact your department technical support staff or the IT Help Desk, helpdesk@k-state.edu, 785-532-7722.
