Departments: Switching to a Mac? Things to consider

Thinking about switching to a Mac for your main computer? Here are some things to keep in mind in order to make the switch a smooth one.

  1. Make note of all the applications you use in Windows and ensure there are equivalent versions for Mac OS X. For example, there are no current versions of AutoCAD that run on Mac OS X. And K-State’s HyperSnap license only runs on Windows. Some university systems might not be available using a Mac operating system.
  2. Check with your IT department to make sure they can support Mac OS X. Some units may have standardized on a Windows environment and not allow Macs.  Continue reading “Departments: Switching to a Mac? Things to consider”
