Windows XP and Office 2003 end of support in April 2014

April 8, 2014. This is the date when Microsoft will no longer support Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Office 2003.  This means that after April 8 next year, there will be no new security updates and assisted support options through Microsoft. Running Windows XP SP3 after this date could potentially pose a threat to your computer and be vulnerable to security risks. “Keep your hard drive” option recommended when purchasing Dell computers

The thought of any type of data being exploited is always a concern for many. Dell offers the option to keep your hard drive if it has failed or is in the process of failing. It is highly recommended to purchase this service because, typically, customers are required to return a hard drive under warranty when a replacement is received.

This “keep your hard drive” service allows you to:

  • Have complete control of the hard drive
  • Not risk the chance of exposing sensitive or confidential data
  • Properly dispose of the drive
