HRIS and KSIS monthly maintenance scheduled Jan. 4

Jan 4 imageInformation Technology Services will perform scheduled monthly maintenance on HRIS and KSIS 10 p.m., Sat., Jan. 4. The maintenance is expected to take 4 hours, both HRIS and KSIS will not be accessible during this time. Thank you to campus for your patience as we work to maintain our IT systems.

Grade submission deadline for fall 2019

Grades for the fall 2019 term are due by 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23 for term courses with final exams given Monday, Dec. 16 – Friday, Dec. 20.

Grade rosters will be available in KSIS for grade entry after 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13.

Students will be able to view grades for regular courses in KSIS starting after 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24.

Grading in KSIS training for Fall 2019 now available

Grading in KSIS training is available for faculty and staff who are involved in submitting grades at the end of the fall 2019 term. Training topics include:

  • Transferring grades from Canvas to KSIS
  • Manually entering grades in KSIS
  • Updating grades in KSIS
  • Submitting a Grade Change Request form in KSIS
  • Q&A for grade submission at K-State

All sessions take place in 306 Calvin Hall.

  • Tuesday, December 3, 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, December 4, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

To attend, sign up in HRIS (see the sign-up instructions). Walk-in attendees are welcome.

If you are unable to attend a session for Grading in KSIS but would like to receive training, contact Fred Darkow at fdarkow@k-state.edu to discuss availability.

Reminder: Mediasite webinar on in-video quizzes Nov. 18

During the fall semester, Information Technology Services is hosting a webinar training series focusing on Mediasite at K-State.

This webinar series highlights many of the power features offered through Mediasite. During the final webinar for the fall, faculty will discover how to leverage in-video quizzes within a Mediasite presentation to foster active learning in the online classroom. ETDR walk-in sessions

The fall semester deadline for submitting ETDRs (electronic theses, dissertations, and reports) to the Graduate School is 5 p.m., Friday, November 15. All ETDRs must be submitted as PDFs through the K-REx repository system.

Walk-in ETDR help sessions are scheduled November 5 – 15:

  • Tuesday, November 5 – 1:30-2:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, November 6 – 9:30-10:30 a.m.
  • Thursday, November 7 – 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.
  • Monday, November 11 – 2:30-4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, November 13 – 2:30-4:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, November 14 – 1:30-3:30 p.m.
  • Friday, November 15 – 3-5 pm

All sessions are in the Media Center (MC) in Seaton Hall, Room 1 (basement level). The MC has Windows and Mac computers, scanners, Microsoft Office Suite, and Acrobat Pro software. MC consultants are available to help with  PDF-conversion issues.

During the fall semester, Information Technology Services is hosting a webinar training series focusing on Mediasite at K-State.

This webinar series highlights many of the power features offered through Mediasite. Faculty will learn the difference between Mediasite channels and shared folders, with the final session demonstrating how to leverage in-video quizzes to foster active learning in the online classroom.

Each 30-minute program is scheduled on a Monday at 10 a.m. and offered through Zoom.

State of IT Security presentation kicks off National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM)

October marks the sixteenth annual National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security.

Josh McCune, IT Security Analyst, will kick off the month with a State of IT Security presentation from 1:30-2:30 p.m., Tues., Oct.1.  For security purposes, registration is required. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

K-State Mediasite webinar series continues this fall

Mediasite logoInformation Technology Services continues the Mediasite webinar training series this fall with three new topics highlighting powerful features offered through Mediasite. Faculty will learn simple tips and tricks for using Mediasite, including the difference between Mediasite channels and shared folders, and how to leverage in-video quizzes to foster active learning in the online classroom.
