2009-2010 Undergraduate and Graduate catalogs online

June 1 marks the release of the 2009-2010 Undergraduate and Graduate catalogs online, available from catalog.k-state.edu. The electronic catalog implemented last year will be published on a yearly basis. The previous year’s catalog will be available as an archived copy in the catalog drop-down menu, found in the upper right-hand corner of each catalog page.

Since the online catalog can be edited on a day-to-day basis, the university will wait until the actual date of appointment to make text changes such as replacing “President Wefald” with incoming “President Schulz”.

If you have any feedback regarding the catalog, contact Ellen Reynolds (ellenr@k-state.edu) for the Undergraduate Catalog, and Shannon Fox (gradinfo@k-state.edu) for the Graduate Catalog.

Hiding courses in K-State Online

Many K-State Online instructors are surprised to find they are students in a number of courses that have been made available to all system instructors, including an iSIS training course.  Instructors who have a large number of courses on their organizers may not have seen these courses because they are listed at the bottom of the course organizer –  way below all the courses they are instructors in.  One solution to this problem is to hide the courses you are not currently using, so they don’t appear on your organizer.  Hiding a course does not delete the course nor does it remove you from the course – it just hides it until you choose to show it again. To hide one or more courses, do the following:

  1. On your course Organizer, click the Preferences tab.
  2. In the Hide column, select the check boxes next to the courses you want to hide.
  3. Click the Save Preferences button.

To show hidden courses, click the hide/show link at the top of your organizer.

IDT Roundtable Oct. 24: Quick Tips for Online Course Accessibility

Jason Maseberg-Tomlinson and Phyllis Epps will present “Quick Tips for Online Course Accessibility” 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, in Union 212. The online classroom is becoming more and more popular among faculty and students. It shapes the experiences of distance students and it enhances the resources of on-campus courses. Accessibility needs to be considered during the creation of new coursework. Online accessibility is just as important as campus accessibility for students with disabilities.
