Demo model of Dell’s new 9010 All-in-One desktop computer in iTAC

The Information Technology Assistance Center received a demo unit of Dell’s new 9010 All-in-One desktop computer — with a sleek, great form factor. Stop by iTAC, Hale 214, just outside the IT Help Desk and take a test drive. It will be available until the end of October.

Dell warranty options when buying a new computer

When purchasing a new Dell computer for your department, you may wonder “Which is the best warranty to get to ensure that iTAC can service it under the provisions of the warranty?”

Dell offers an array of warranty options that may or may not meet your needs. For the service that iTAC offers, it is recommended to purchase the less expensive “Basic Hardware Service”. This provides a decent savings over purchasing the “ProSupport” service.

Dell Product Roadmap open sessions Thursday, Dec. 16

Dell Product Roadmap presentations are scheduled 1-4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, in Room 207 of the K-State Student Union. Dell representatives will share exciting new opportunities, partnerships, and enhancements to Dell product and services that have been unveiled in the last few months.

These sessions are open to the K-State campus community. The agenda:

1- 2 p.m. Dell Client Product Roadmap — Aron Singletary, Dell client technologist

2-3 p.m. Dell Networking and Enterprise Data Management — Daryl Proctor, Dell enterprise technologist-networking

3-4 p.m. Dell Server and Storage Product Roadmap — Mike Groft, Dell senior systems consultant

Jeff Cannon, Dell account executive, will also be on hand to assist and answer questions.

Today (Sept. 7) is last day of back-to-school computer sales

Computer back-to-school offers at the K-State Student Union Computer Store end today (Tuesday, Sept. 7). K-State students, faculty/staff, and emeritus with valid K-State IDs can buy qualifying Mac and iPod products and receive an online rebate of up to $199.

Along with a full inventory featuring MacBooks, iPads, iPods, accessories, as well as a select line of Dell laptops, your Authorized Apple Campus store continues to offer education discounts on Student Select Microsoft and Adobe products. The software savings can be as much as 80 percent off of retail prices.

Dell computer purchase update

The Dell Optiplex 360 has been discontinued. This machine was part of the discount pricing bulk-purchasing agreement negotiated in November, but is no longer available.  Dell has replaced this model with the Optiplex 380 and K-State has negotiated a price of $587. The quote number is 525847738. The following is a breakdown of the specs:

  • Processor – Core 2 Duo E7500 VT/2.93GHz, 3M, 1066MHz FSB
  • Memory – 4GB, Non-ECC, 1066MHz DDR3, 2×2GB
  • Video Card – Integrated Video, GMA 4500
  • Hard Drive – 160GB SATA 3.0GB/s and 8MB Data Burst Cache
  • Optical Drive – 16X DVD+/-RW SATA
  • Monitor  – None Included
  • Warranty – 4-Year Next Business Day Parts and Labor Onsite

Dell computer quotes for department purchases

This spring, IT staff from across campus worked on the annual bundled pricing of Dell computers. The team negotiated a total of five different computer packages, with two packages below $1,000. As in past years, each department is free to use the included quotes to purchase directly from Dell. Ordering instructions are at the bottom of each quote. This year’s packages and quotes are as follows:
