Top Hat announces updated tools available for fall semester

Top Hat is a student engagement system that allows instructors to ask questions, take polls, give quizzes, and receive feedback from students during class. Top Hat has been integrated with Canvas so that instructors can sync grading and class roster information between the two systems

Top Hat has recently updated their tools, combining Top Hat Classroom, Assignment, and Test into a single product – Top Hat Test. April 25: Top Hat Certification Day Agenda

Top Hat CertificationYou still have time to register for the Top Hat Certification Day which is 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. April 25,  Big 12 room, in the K-State Student Union. 

Top Hat, a classroom engagement system that has been integrated with Canvas, is growing in adoption at K-State. Come join us for the day to see if this is a tool for you or to enhance your skills if you are already using the tool.

Agenda for the day

  • 9:30 a.m. – Registration
  • 10:00 a.m. – noon – Drive Effective Student Behaviours outside of class
    This sessionwill provide insight on different assignment styles and how to use Top Hat for comprehension, feedback, motivation and improvement before class.
  • Noon – 1:30 p.m. – Lunch / Faculty Q & A Session (Cottonwood Room)
    Faculty who currently use Top hat in a few unique ways will share insights on topics such as the use of technology in the classroom, techniques to improve engagement and the use of interactive content outside of the classroom.
  • 1:30 – 3 p.m. – Creating an Active Learning environment during class
    This session will include advanced techniques that fit to many pedagogical styles including using Top Hat in a flipped classroom, for group work and in a more traditional lecture.

Top Hat rep on campus Sept. 12; instructors can have individual meetings

A Top Hat representative will be on the Manhattan campus Wednesday, Sept. 12. Instructors who would like to meet with Jay Meloff and discuss using Top Hat for their courses should send Jay an email (jay.meloff@tophat.com) to schedule an individual meeting.

Top Hat now available in K-State Online

Top Hat is now available in K-State Online. Top Hat is a classroom engagement system that has been integrated with K-State Online’s Canvas. Instructors can choose to utilize Top Hat to develop interactive course content, gamified lessons, dynamic discussions and live polling and next-generation online textbooks to help engage students inside and outside the classroom with compelling content, tools and activities. Top Hat training Jan. 9-10 for instructors

Top Hat training sessions will be available for instructors Jan. 9-10, 2018:

  • Tue, Jan. 9, 2-3 p.m., Hale 401
  • Wed, Jan. 10, 10-11 a.m., Hale 301

Representatives from Top Hat will be available after the training sessions to work with individuals one-on-one.
