Here’s what our participants shared in response to the question “What did you gain from your experience in the KS-LSAMP program?”:

“I loved that this program provided me with support in my academics as well as social support from my peers. It helped me to outline clear timelines and goals that I intend to pursue during my college career. This program also provided me with options for time management through digital apps or with other tangible options, as well as campus resources that are target to help academic success.”

“Building connections with other peers.”

“That the university provides students with many resources, but not many use them or know that they are there.”

“I was very well reminded of all of the available resources all around campus and the numerous ways that they can benefit you…”

“I gained information about useful resources that can help me study better.”

“I learned that I was not going through these experiences alone. I also learned that there are a LOT more campus resources that I didn’t even know about and have been utilizing these more.”

“I gained new friendships and new campus resources.”

“I have gained a lot of helpful information about bettering my college education and being a better college student. I felt that all the modules were really helpful and taking everything into consideration into my academic career, I saw major improvements to my education.”

“I gained an experience in an academic development and challenges associated with it and how to get around those challenges and become successful students.”

“I gained a knowledge of ways that I can organize myself at the start of the week so that I can be more prepared throughout the week and get more done.”

“…I gained a greater sense of self-awareness. I am far more aware of my strengths and weaknesses now because of KS-LSAMP.”

“…I gained a sense of unity and family and it was nice being able to connect with other students.”

“A lot of useful tips on how to better manage myself and my stress.”

“I gained a wider connection with other students, ways to grow personally and academically, and a greater determination to not give up.”

“I would say that the most useful thing that I got from my experience was exposure to all the resources on campus. Having the assignments to go visit a couple of resources made me want to visit more and seeing the list it was nice to go visit the ones that I thought would be interesting. This allowed me to learn more about campus and in the future, I can help people by directing them with resources to help them out.”

“I learned a lot about time management strategies, ways to implement the strategies into our goals, and my shortcomings that could be improved. I learned a lot about how to manage stress and anxiety by having a growth mindset and focusing on my perspective rather than a fixed mindset that can be detrimental to my mental health.”
