I hope you are all staying healthy and active during this unprecedented COVID-19 crazy time as we remote work, teach, and learn. I have to say that all of the disaster recovery, business continuity plans in the world could not have prepared us to deal with the self-isolation we are all maintaining to keep down the spread of the virus.
As we all work on getting used to our new normal, I thought I would share a little about how I’ve been getting along. On a day-to-day basis, I have traded my multiple meeting weeks driving between Unger and the rest of the campus and walking between different buildings for jumping from Zoom meeting to Zoom meeting, seven days a week. I regret the loss of exercise I used to get walking between these meetings. My dogs, though, are ecstatic, with me being around 100% of the time. Happy New Year everyone! I hope it was a restful and enjoyable holiday break.
It has been a while and I wanted to reach out again to share where we are in the first phase of the IT reorganization. We heard feedback regarding the October 2nd message about it being a bit overwhelming and there being a whole lot of reading involved, so will try to be a bit more streamlined this time around and only hit on progress and near term next steps. As promised, I wanted to reach out to share where we are on the reorganization.
After months of listening sessions and strategic conversations, we realize how complex the effort of reorganization will be. Because there are so many other major projects in process going on simultaneously with the reorganization, we felt that it would make sense to tackle the endeavor in phases. The State of IT meeting was well attended with about 89 staff on site and 52 joining via Zoom. Gary Pratt, CIO, discussed accomplishments for FY 2019 and future plans for IT including the AWS-MRP project, the CRM, the feasibility study for the data center, reorganization and more.
