Former ECE Instructor passes away

Isaac Wakabayashi passed away peacefully on July 26, 2017, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, Kansas. Ike was born December 15, 1925, in Tacoma, Washington and grew up there and in Hilo Hawaii. He eventually moved to California and attended the University of California Berkley where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1953. He then went in the Army for two years and eventually moved to Manhattan. Ike always liked teaching others and joined the faculty at K-State as an Electrical Engineer Instructor and taught lab classes in the electrical engineering department for many years until his retirement.

Ike had a passion for judo and competed in the sport for a time, earned a 5th-degree black belt rank and was a judo instructor well in his 70’s. Other hobbies included fishing, reading, crossword puzzles, R/C model aviation and bike riding was his favorite mode of transportation.
