“Do You See What I See?” opens Tuesday

The Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art is excited to announce the opening of Do You See What I See? The exhibition premieres Tuesday, Sept. 6, and runs through Tuesday, May 27, 2023, in the Marion Pelton Gallery.

This special exhibition draws attention to the differing ideas people have about popular images, which often lead to misunderstandings and disagreement. Artworks on display challenge viewers to think twice about what a familiar object or person represents to them. Visitors can look forward to seeing the museum’s recent acquisitions by artists Paul Rucker and Archie Scott Gobber as well as important works on loan from the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. These include a portrait by Grant Wood and a large sculpture of an ear by John Baldessari. Don’t miss this opportunity to see and discover just how varied individual interpretations of a common symbol can be.
