Still Time to See the Stunning Photographs by Dawoud Bey

By Haley Hermes, Education Intern, senior in Family Studies

This summer visitors have traveled from different areas to see the exhibition Dawoud Bey: Picturing People.” These portrait photographs capture different aspects of human interaction and individual character. The thought provoking experience has engaged visitors and made quite an impression on them.

Here are some comments:

  • “Absolutely wonderful! Reinvigorates my love of people and photography! The emotional connection of the subject and camera is calm and beautifully done.”
  • “I feel I know the subjects better today than I did yesterday – soon enough we would perhaps be friends. At least they have done their part.”
  • “Just imagine if all of us had pictorial feedback like this – say once a year.”
  • “Each photo/picture carried arrays of emotions and wisdom. I truly enjoyed all of [the] work. Thank you!”
  • “Great – nice to see non-generic art here in the Heartland!”
  • “Heartbreaking in their beauty, every one.”

“Dawoud Bey: Picturing People” closes on October 5th, 2014 so there is still time to come view it!
