In response to community need, HandsOn Kansas State, in conjunction with Harvesters Community Food Network of Topeka, has scheduled a Mobile Food Distribution on Friday, May 8. The event will start at 4 p.m. in parking lot C-1 of the Chester E. Peters Recreation Complex, and will continue as long as supplies last.
The mobile food distribution is open to all members of the K-State and Manhattan community with fresh fruits, vegetables and other produce items offered at no cost.
To adhere to social distancing guidelines and best public health practices, some adjustments will be made to the distribution. A limited number of volunteers will be managing the event, and will practice social distancing while distributing food. Participants may be asked to open and close their vehicle trunk or door. Volunteers will place pre-packed boxes into vehicles.
Individuals who do not have a vehicle may walk over to pick up food. However, transportation back to their home will not be provided due to social distancing orders. Participants with a vehicle will be directed to use the entrance on Kimball Avenue to get in line.
Additional Mobile Food Distributions will be announced throughout the summer months. Dates will be posted on the HandsOn Kansas State website and social media and on Staley School of Leadership Studies social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) as they are confirmed. Please email handson@ksu.edu or call 785-532-6085 with questions.
