In this 101st year following the founding of the Negro Leagues in nearby Kansas City, it is important to acknowledge its rich history and how its message resonates even today. In learning about black baseball players and the community of media, fans and owners, we can use the Negro Leagues as a vehicle to lead us into deeper conversations about race, activism and social justice within our own communities.
