RSVPs are requested by Wednesday, June 8.
The Mandela Washington Fellowship, the flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), empowers young African leaders through academic coursework, leadership training, mentoring, networking, professional opportunities, and support for activities in their communities. Fellows are leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa who have established records of accomplishment in promoting innovation and positive change in their organizations, institutions, communities, and countries.
Twenty-four Mandela Washington Fellows were selected to attend the Leadership in Civic Engagement Institute hosted by Kansas State University and the Staley School of Leadership Studies.
This cohort will be part of a larger group of 700 Mandela Washington Fellows hosted at institutions across the United States this summer. Select Fellows will spend six weeks, from June 8 – July 17, in professional development training with U.S. non-governmental organizations, private companies, and government agencies.
Working closely with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational Affairs and its implementing partner, IREX, Staley School faculty have designed academic programs to challenge, inspire, and empower these young leaders.
Join us to eat, drink, and welcome the 2022 Mandela Washington Fellows to K-State and to our community. We hope you will join us!
