Dr. Justin Kastner, associate professor in K-State’s department of diagnostic medicine/pathobiology, will present as part of the What Matters to Me and Why lecture series Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019. The presentation will take place in Town Hall, Leadership Studies Building, from noon to 1 p.m.
In his talk entitled, Precedents, Purpose, and Paths Forward: Why History Matters to Me, and Why, Kastner will share how “looking to and learning about the past” has fueled his academic and personal development, love of learning, and service to society in his twin roles of university professor and community pastor. In addition to duly acknowledging the research and teaching value of historical scholarship, Kastner will showcase how scholarly and practical crafts affiliated with history have enriched his family life, ushered in remarkable friendships, and inspired paths forward.
A free box lunch will be provided starting at 11:45 a.m., and an RSVP is requested by Nov. 12. Read a full event description and sign up here.
This informal lunchtime series supports K-State’s Principles of Community by encouraging reflection on matters of personal values, beliefs, and motivations in order to better understand the lives and inspirations of those who serve and shape the University. This event is sponsored by the Staley School of Leadership Studies, and supported by an interdisciplinary, cross-campus planning team.
