Nonprofit leadership students demonstrate learning through virtual showcase

Each semester, students in LEAD 420: Theories of Nonprofit Leadership are tasked with creating a theoretical nonprofit organization for their semester project. These projects are showcased through posters at a Nonprofit Coffee Hour event in the Staley School of Leadership Studies building.

This semester, the public is invited to learn about the projects and engage with them through a Virtual Nonprofit Showcase.

Viewers can watch video clips of the students explaining their project, download their full portfolio proposals, learn about the nonprofit leadership certificate, and use the virtual experience to provide feedback through comments.

“Through this project, our students get the chance to explore the theories we have learned about in the classroom by imagining an organization that could make a real-world impact,” said Chance Lee, Ph.D., assistant professor and director of the nonprofit leadership program at the Staley School.

“It’s my favorite part of the semester because they have the chance to show off what they’ve learned and learn from community input and experience. Even though we can’t get together in person this year, I’m very happy we have a virtual space where many more can learn and engage with the work we do. As 10% of the American workforce, nonprofits are an integral part of our economy and societal safety net.

This semester, we are celebrating our 200th graduate of the nonprofit leadership program and our first graduates of the program as a standalone certificate. To learn more about the nonprofit leadership certificate, visit the website or email Chance Lee at chance@ksu.edu
