Sign-up to be a small group facilitator for Wildcat Dialogues

Wildcat Dialogues is an intercultural leadership experience designed to introduce first-time students to tools they can use to engage in meaningful dialogues across differences to help create communities of belonging at K-State. 

Are you ready to serve as a small group facilitator? Sign up by Sunday, October 29. K-State students, faculty and staff are invited to join us as facilitators. Facilitators are needed each year to play a critical role helping first-year students connect with each other, share their stories and engage in meaningful dialogue. Training is provided and facilitators will get a free Wildcat Dialogues t-shirt.

Wildcat Dialogues will take place 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the K-State Student Union. A  virtual session will also be available and will take place 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9.

  • Wildcat Dialogues – In-Person
    • 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8 (this will be our main session; the virtual session is advertised for those with conflicts or who have health concerns)
  • Wildcat Dialogues – Virtual via Zoom
    • 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9

As a small group facilitator you will:

  • Guide groups of 8-10 students in a dialogue to help them develop skills in intercultural leadership
  • Actively contribute to the university in its mission to create a campus culture of belonging for all students
  • Develop your own ability to facilitate meaningful dialogue around difficult topics

How can you join us?  All facilitators will participate in training on intercultural learning and small group facilitation, as well as detailed information on the program for Wildcat Dialogues. To prepare, there is a short training module to complete on Canvas, and facilitators will need to attend a training session and practice session. See options below:

  • In-Person Training at the Leadership Studies Building (for those facilitating on Nov. 8):
    • 3:30-5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30
    • 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31
    • 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2
    • 3-4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6
  • Virtual Training via Zoom (for those facilitating on Nov. 9 via Zoom):
    • 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5

Additionally, first-time facilitators (and anyone who would like to) will be asked to attend a facilitation practice. These practice sessions are for facilitators who will be assisting with the in-person Wildcat Dialogues event on Nov. 8. Practice sessions will be held:

  • Noon-1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3
  • 3-4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3
  • 4:30-5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6

This event is coordinated in partnership between the Staley School of Leadership, K-State First, and the K-State Student Union, and the Division of Student Belonging and Inclusion, alongside a large committee representing students, faculty and staff. This collaboration represents the commitment by our campus community to create a culture of belonging for all.

Staley School to host 13th annual Spirit of Leadership

You're invited to the 13th annual Spirit of LeadershipStaley School of Leadership alumni and friends are invited to the 13th annual Spirit of Leadership on Friday, Nov. 10!

The Spirit of Leadership is an annual event where alumni, friends, students, faculty and staff come together to reconnect, reunite, and re-energize around leadership.

Celebration event: 6:30-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10
Join us in-person for a program, recognition of our Michael C. Holen Leader-In-Residence, David Chrislip, and a social with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Wear purple – dressy-casual or semi-formal – and come prepared to share your Staley School of Leadership story. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the formal program begins at 6:30 p.m. View a list of attendees.

For those who cannot attend in-person, a Zoom link will be available for the program portion of the evening through the RSVP form.

Wildcat Dialogues seeks volunteers for 2023 event

Save the date! The fall 2023 Wildcat Dialogues will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the K-State Student Union.

Wildcat Dialogues is an event for first-year students at Kansas State University. Participants come together in small groups for a facilitated discussion that focuses on curiosity, sharing personal stories, and listening to learn together as they begin their journey within our diverse campus community.
