Examining Service-Learning Today: Active listening in global partnerships
As educators and program coordinators plan for global collaborations in a post-pandemic world, we have an opportunity to reimagine partnerships with reciprocity at the forefront. Active listening is very important when collaborating with community partners.
In this blog, Kait Long, director of student engagement at the Staley School of Leadership, illustrates the importance of listening to and collaborating with community partners in global leadership and service work.
As our world began reopening post-pandemic last year, our staff at the Staley School of Leadership and colleagues around the world began asking critical questions of what it means to be in global partnership. That is, after strictly virtual engagement for two years, and no in-person exchange or learning, how to intentionally re-launch our work together? After so much change, how do we continue collaborating in meaningful ways? As Mac Benavides detailed in his recent blog post, a partnership inventory is a critical first step in partnering with intentionality, and with the goal of reciprocity. The University Honors Program (UHP) at Kansas State University is pleased to announce student and faculty award winners for 2023. Wildcat Dialogues seeks volunteers for 2023 planning committee
Save the date! The fall 2023 Wildcat Dialogues will take place 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the K-State Student Union.
Wildcat Dialogues is an event for first-year students at Kansas State University. Participants come together in small groups for a facilitated discussion that focuses on curiosity, sharing personal stories, and listening to learn together as they begin their journey within our diverse campus community. Wildcat Dialogues is designed to encourage meaningful dialogue across differences to help create communities of belonging at K-State.

The Staley School of Leadership invites the campus community to Celebrating Service and Leadership, an annual awards event. Students, community members and groups will be recognized for service in leadership and more.

Applications open for student Strengths Peer Coaches
K-State Strengths, a University-wide initiative powered by CliftonStrengths, is recruiting student Strengths Peer Coaches for fall 2023. Applications are due Friday, April 14.
Strengths Peer Coaches work one-on-one (both in person and via Zoom) with students to support them in the development of their Clifton Strengths towards personal and academic success. Peer Coaches help students dive deeper into their Strengths, find connections between the Strengths and everyday activities, work through challenges, and develop ways to increase their engagement and well-being.

K-State welcomes Clifton Strengths Institute partner for campus presentation
Tim Hodges, Ph.D., executive director of the Clifton Strengths Institute and professor in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Business, will present 25 Years of CliftonStrengths: Lessons Learned and the Road Ahead. The presentation will take place 1-2 p.m. Friday, March 31, in the Leadership Studies Building Town Hall, room 114.
Kansas State University’s K-State Strengths, housed in the Staley School of Leadership and celebrating 10 years on campus, team welcomes all students, faculty and staff to the presentation to learn from and engage with Hodges during the presentation.
Over his 20-year career, Hodges, a Gallup-certified Strengths Coach has given hundreds of presentations, lead strengths-based research for Gallup, Inc., and has established himself as a writer through journals, chapters and research reports.
