Timeline extended for budget model review

Submitted by the Budget Office

Due to several other high-priority initiatives currently taking place across the university, the budget model review will reengage in August with the relaunch of stakeholder sessions.

The strategic initiative kicked off in December 2023, followed by meetings in January to gather stakeholder input. Those stakeholder sessions are scheduled to begin again in August and will be followed by model review and recommendations.

The budget model review work includes a holistic review of K-State’s budget model so that it aligns with our Next-Gen K-State strategic plan. The review will ensure that the university budget model incentivizes research and interdisciplinary activities, encourages enrollment growth, provides greater financial accountability and preserves mission-critical activities. Visit the Budget Model Review page for more info about the initiative, methodology and new timeline.

University to establish single badge-access system across all campuses as part of comprehensive security plan

Submitted by the Division of Safety and Risk

The university continues to enhance campus security with the recent selection of a single access-control, or badge reader, system that will eventually replace 15 different systems currently in place across all K-State campuses.

The Gallagher unified badge-access solution, recommended by a university task force on security and safety, will enable the university to respond to emergency events more quickly and efficiently from a centralized location. It will physically secure various facilities and spaces across all K-State campuses.

The solution will roll out gradually across the university, first with new construction initiatives and facilities undergoing major renovations. Other existing access systems will transition once they reach the end of their lifecycles.
