Looking for a way to get involved in the new year and learn important skillsets along the way? Powercat Financial recommends starting off 2018 with K-State 360. Through K-State 360, you can partake in a series of events that will help you grow both academically and professionally. By participating in K-State 360, you will cultivate a learning experience unique to K-State and build upon skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication and career development.
How does it work?
To get started, you can download the K-State mobile app or visit the K-State 360 webpage at http://360.k-state.edu. Once logged in, you can begin navigating through the several competency areas to start completing your K-State 360 certificate by viewing upcoming events and sessions to earn points. You will be able to check in at all events through either the K-State mobile app or by swiping your student ID.
Earn Badges
Throughout the program, you will earn badges as you progress towards the completion of your certificate. Powercat Financial offers 2 badges for students which include a Salt Badge and a College Financial Planning Badge. Learning the importance of managing your personal finances in college is crucial and valuable to future employers. At Powercat Financial, our main focus is to help students throughout their collegiate career to become more financially literate so that they are best equipped for their future. Through completion of the Salt and College Financial Planning badges, students will get firsthand experience with all the financial resources available at K-State.
Salt Badge
Salt (https://www.saltmoney.org) is a free resource available to all students that offers information and insight into managing your personal finances. In completing the Salt Badge, you will take several mini-courses covering personal financial topics through Salt. In addition, you will attend a Salt training session via Zoom to learn how to navigate through the site. Salt training sessions are offered monthly with upcoming dates listed below and other dates can be found at http://www.k-state.edu/powercatfinancial/events/:
- January 25th from 3:30-4:30pm
- February 8th from 9:30-10:30am
- February 23rd from 10:00-11:00am
- March 6th from 3:30-4:30pm
College Financial Planning Badge
In completing the College Financial Planning badge, you will begin to create your own personal college financial plan through 3 sessions with Powercat Financial.
Appointments with Powercat Financial can be scheduled by visiting our website at http://www.k-state.edu/powercatfinancial/. In addition, you will partake in a money management workshop. Lastly, you will attend fun and engaging events hosted by Powercat Financial throughout the semester with the dates of upcoming events listed below:
- Marriage and Money Seminar: February 13th from 7:00-8:00pm
- Come learn how to best combine your finances with your partner and hear from expert Dr. Sonya Lutter, Assoc. Professor in Personal Financial Planning. Powercat Financial will be presenting on strategies to help you and your partner merge your financial lives together.
- Spring Break NOT Spring Broke: March 1st from 12:00-1:30pm
- Powercat Financial will be hosting fun and interactive games for you to learn money tips for your upcoming vacations. Food, fun, and prizes will be provided. In addition, you will get the chance to step into the money vault for a shot at winning a Yeti!
- Speaker Todd Romer presents Young Money LIVE! for students: April 3rd from 5:30-7:00pm
- Come listen to Todd Romer, the founder of Young Money University and author of the new book Young Money, speak about how to create a life that fits your dreams and how to see money differently. The first 75 student attendees will receive a free copy of his book. A reception and book signing will follow the event.
