Jodi’s Corner: Unprecedented Times But We’re All In This Together!

It is the second week of a new way of operating for Kansas State University and personally for each of us! So much has changed in that short amount of time that it can naturally feel overwhelming, but we want to reassure you that so much remains the same with our Powercat Financial program. Rest assured we remain committed more than ever to helping K-State students with their financial wellness. We are still able to offer K-State students free online financial counseling via Zoom as we always have. Students can simply request an appointment via the link on our website at www.k-state.edu/powercatfinancial. If you prefer a phone session, you can simply indicate this in the comments section of the appointment scheduling process along with the best number to reach you at and indicate times you are available. We are happy to try to answer any financial questions or financial concerns you are currently facing.

Did you know you can also subscribe to this blog series on the right side of our blog site and receive our helpful financial tips into your inbox as they get released each week? Our next post will be about how to handle rent and your lease during this period of national emergency. We also have many other helpful financial tips archived on our blog site that you might find helpful like job searching strategies, student loan repayment, budgeting your money plus many more!

Also if you follow us on our social media channels of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram we will continue to share important K-State and financial information. Plus don’t forget our website at www.k-state.edu/powercatfinancial is full of excellent financial information, worksheets and links out to other financial tools and resources that might be the answer to your financial issue. Please go check it out and let us know if you don’t find the information you were looking for. Our email continues to be powercatfinancial@k-state.edu and we stand ready to reply with helpful assistance now and always.

We also wanted to share a few important resources that we feel certain all students can utilize during this time:

  • The Keep Learning website has practical information about what students can expect with remote instruction, technology support, how to make the most of this format that is new to many students and much more.
  • The Division of Student Life continues to serve K-State students remotely. Don’t let physical distance prevent you from accessing K-State support services. Review this K-State Today article for the ways you can stay connected with many of Student Life’s resources: https://www.k-state.edu/today/announcement/?id=63288
  • The Office of Student Financial Assistance is currently closed to in person advising/traffic like the rest of campus, but if you have specific financial assistance questions you should contact finaid@k-state.edu or you may also still contact your Financial Aid Advisor via e-mail to set up virtual advising sessions (see list of financial aid advisors here: https://www.k-state.edu/sfa/about/advisor/) .
    • If you have documents to submit to the SFA office, please utilize their Secure Document Upload. For security purposes, they are unable to accept documents sent as e-mail attachments. This method is highly recommended as it is the most efficient and secure way to submit your documents to the SFA office. Any documents sent via standard mail or fax will experience a delay in processing, as university mail is only be processed once a week.

We hope you connect with us anytime you have any questions. Again our email is powercatfinancial@k-state.edu and our website for appointment requests and resources is www.k-state.edu/powercatfinancial. While we may not be together currently, we are surely all in this together and stand ready to help in any way we can!
