On Saturday, Nov. 1, AT&T Wireless officially began providing cellphone service to the Manhattan area. This means that the iPhone is now officially available to those living in Manhattan.
An AT&T store has opened near Wal-Mart, and phones and service are also available through AT&T’s website. In the Manhattan market, EDGE wireless service is the fastest speed currently available from AT&T. The faster 3G service was not a part of this initial service rollout.
