K-State Alerts, the university’s emergency notification system, will be tested approximately 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14.
Emergency notification channels to be tested are text messaging, automated phone calls, e-mail to all K-State accounts, and the new alert beacons installed this summer in Eisenhower Hall and behind the front desks of residence halls on the Manhattan campus.
K-State Alerts is tested twice per year to ensure proper operation during an actual emergency. Following the test, a feedback survey will be e-mailed to anyone signed up for emergency text messages or automated phone calls.
To receive emergency notifications by text message or automated phone calls, students and faculty/staff with active K-State eIDs must be enrolled in K-State Alerts through the eProfile system. Eligible K-Staters can add contact information of parents, children, and spouses when they sign up.
For text messages, factors such as service provider, coverage area, and total load on local communication towers can impact whether and when users receive text messages.
For technical assistance with eProfile or K-State Alerts, contact the IT Help Desk. For more information, see the K-State Alerts website.
