  • Kirk Schulz discusses enrollment, finances in annual address

The tweets were posted to @KState’s nearly 9,000 followers. …Schulz also addressed Zimbra mail during the questioning period, stating that the university will soon be changing mail systems and is currently going through submissions to find which company to switch to.”

  • University to keep using ‘K-State’ name
    (Sept. 27, 2012)  “Over a 10-hour period, Schulz sent out more than 25 tweets attempting to quell the rumor. One such tweet read ‘Folks – we are NOT dropping the use of ‘K-State’! We are simply using Kansas State University more strategically than in the past. #KState.'”

  • Award-winning writer discusses importance of small community journalism
    (Sept. 20, 2012)  “The major change in journalism that Dary spoke on was that of technology. Dary said the threat of print newspapers becoming obsolete was still circulating, but he did not believe in it. …Dary said that the full effect of what technology, and specifically social media, will have on community journalism cannot yet be determined. Dary did compare the current rush of social media to the Industrial Revolution in its importance to America. ‘Social media is new; the novelty has not worn off.   • Online map of Wildcat Creek prepares residents for potential floods
    (Sept. 13, 2012)  “Manhattan residents now have access to a new flood warning system online. Over the last year, the city of Manhattan teamed up with state and federal officials to create a new flood warning system with localized flood maps available online, according to an Aug. 31 post on the city’s website.”

  • IT Help Desk braces for impact as password deadline nears
    (Sept. 11, 2012)  “This semester, users can include spaces in their passwords for the first time, which means that password phrases or short sentences can be used to make it easier for the user to remember his or her password.”
