In the Windows 8 touch environment, the copying process is different in webpages and programs such as Microsoft Word. So both methods will be discussed.
Copying from webpages:
- Tap on the word you want to select. The word will highlight and have an open circle on each side of the highlighted word.
- Press and drag on either circle to increase or decrease the highlighted area.
- Press and hold anywhere in the highlighted area until a box appears.
- Release, and Copy will appear in the box.
- Tap Copy and the highlighted text will be copied to the clipboard.
Note: If you want to copy a URL, you need to copy it from the URL box in the browser. If you tap on a word in a URL that is listed on a webpage, it will launch the URL and not highlight the text.
Copying from programs:
- Run your finger over the text you wish to copy and it will highlight.
- Press and hold anywhere in the highlighted area until a box appears.
- Release, and the box will display some different options (Cut, Copy, Paste, Paragraph, and Lists).
- Tap Copy and the highlighted text will be copied to the clipboard.
Once you have your content copied to the clipboard, navigate to the pasting location.
To paste:
- Press and hold until a box appears.
- Release, and the box will display some different options (Cut, Copy, Paste, Paragraph, and Lists).
- Tap Paste and the contents of the clipboard will be pasted to the location.
