2023 Cybersecurity Awareness training launching, 2021 course to close Jan. 16

The Division of Information Technology (IT) offers annual cybersecurity awareness training to promote a strong cybersecurity culture at K-State. This training will be offered annually at the beginning of February each year. New employees are required to take the training within 90 days of employment.

Cybersecurity awareness training helps staff protect sensitive information, secure themselves online, and learn how to identify security events and report them to K-State’s security team. This training is mandatory for all state agencies through the State of Kansas ITEC Policy 7230 – Information Technology Enterprise Security Policy section 8.0 Awareness and Training Standard.

Cybersecurity Training - Feb. 1-March 31

On Jan. 16, the 2021 Cybersecurity Training course will be closed so IT can transition to offering the new course. When the 2021 course closes, staff will no longer be able to access this course.

On Feb. 1, IT will distribute an email invitation to all employees with information about how to access and complete the 2023 Cybersecurity Awareness Training. New employees who have recently completed the 2021 training are required to take the 2023 training.

Please note the training offered in 2023 is mainly new material that better reflects the risks and challenges we face as a university.

The training must be completed by March 31, 2023. The President’s Cabinet has authorized the suspension of eIDs that fail to complete the required training by the due date. If your eID is suspended, you will lose access to all University systems until the training is completed. If not completed, you will lose access to your account on April 14.

Employees will be sent regular email reminders to complete the training as well as be shown a reminder as they sign into K-State Services.

Thank you for doing your part.
