Apple released its latest operating system, macOS Big Sur, on November 12. The release has caused some problems for vendors who provide applications or tools that run on Mac devices.
Right now, the Division of Information Technology (IT) knows that GlobalProtect, K-State’s VPN, does not work with Big Sur. If you use GlobalProtect, you will want to wait to upgrade to Big Sur until after the necessary patches are made available for GlobalProtect. When those patches are ready, the news will be communicated through K-State Today, the IT News Blog, and the K-State’s Global Protect website.
Other issues that may occur include apps taking a long time to launch and stuttering and non-responsiveness throughout macOS.
In general, it is a good idea to make sure your applications and tools will work on a new operating system before installing that operating system. You may want to wait a couple of weeks before installing Big Sur to allow time for your application and tool vendors to provide updated versions of their products that are compatible with the new operating system.
