Emergency contact, current contact info required for students

Beginning with the spring 2011 password-change timeframe (Jan. 1-Feb. 9), students will be required to have an emergency contact person on record with K-State and to confirm their contact information three times per year.

“This will ensure that we have the most current contact information for our students, including local and permanent address, phone numbers, and how to get in touch with the student’s emergency contact persons,” said Heather Reed, associate dean and director of the Office of Student Life. “In the event of an emergency, we need to be able to get in touch with the student’s chosen emergency-contact persons as soon as possible.”

Students can update their contact information in iSIS or eProfile. Once every 120 days, upon signing into eProfile, a non-movable window will be on the screen displaying the contact information that K-State has on record for the student.

The student must confirm that this information is correct or make changes to the information, like adding an emergency contact, before being able to do other tasks in eProfile such as changing their eID password or signing up for K-State Alerts.

Student employees will also need to change their contact information in HRIS Employee Self Service.

The Office of Student Life, the Information Systems Office, the Office of Mediated Education, and many other individuals and departments across campus have worked closely to implement these improvements.
