Apple has issued a recall on some 1-terabyte hard drives that were installed in iMacs between October 2009 and July 2011. It is important to get these hard drives replaced as soon as possible to prevent data loss due to a hard drive failure.
As an authorized Apple service provider, iTAC is able to provide the replacement for qualifying computers that are owned by Kansas State University and personal computers of students and faculty/staff that are a part of this recall. To check to see if your computer is affected, visit Apple’s iMac 1TB Seagate Hard Drive Replacement Program.
If your iMac is affected, you can bring it to the IT Help Desk in 214 Hale Library and check it in to have the hard drive replaced. There is no charge for this service, as all parts and labor are being covered as a part of the recall.
As always, we encourage everyone to keep a current backup of their computer’s data in a safe location to minimize data loss in case of hardware failure or other events that may cause a loss of data.
