Office 365 training for August

As part of K-State’s Office 365 subscription, the Microsoft Store provides free training on Office 365 applications. They have expanded their service catalog so you may notice a few changes in their offerings. We have scheduled the following sessions with them for August:

  • 8/8- Increase collaboration with Microsoft Teams – Registration
  • 8/11 – Teams Chat and Meetings – Registration
  • 8/15 – Get started with Microsoft Power BI Desktop – Registration
  • 8/22 – Get started with Microsoft SharePoint Online – Registration
  • 8/25 – Go further with Microsoft Excel: Tables, formatting and collaboration – Registration

All of the above sessions will be from 2-3:30 p.m. Registration is required. After you register, a confirmation will be sent to you with a link to the session.

The sessions will be held in Microsoft Teams. When you click to join the meeting, you will be taken to a page where you can choose to either join on the web or download the desktop app. If you already have the Teams app, the meeting will open there automatically.

Excel: Go further with Microsoft Excel: Tables, formatting and collaboration

Take your Microsoft Excel skills to the next level and learn more advanced features! Create tables, learn conditional formatting, and share and collaborate with your colleagues. 

Objectives: 

  • Create spreadsheets using tables 
  • Analyze your data using conditional formatting and data validation 
  • Collaborate and share your work with others 
  • Use accessibility options in Excel 

Power BI: Get started with Microsoft Power BI Desktop

Microsoft Power BI enables everyone at every level of your organization to make confident decisions using analytics. Once you get started with Power BI Desktop, you can go from data to insight to action with hundreds of data visualizations, built-in AI capabilities, a tight Excel integration and prebuilt and custom data connectors to develop rich and interactive reports to share with colleagues. 

Objectives:

  • Understand the building blocks of Power BI Desktop
  • Explore the data prep capabilities of Power Query
  • Write formulas and model your data
  • Begin visualizing data and formatting a report 
  • Save and publish a report to the Power BI service

SharePoint: Get started with Microsoft SharePoint Online

This course focuses on the SharePoint Online experience. Attendees will learn how to share and manage content, find information, and collaborate across your organization.

Objectives: 

  • Successfully navigate SharePoint team and communication sites
  • Understand Microsoft 365 groups.
  • Work with SharePoint document libraries
  • Share files and folders with users outside of a group
  • Utilize shared resources in team sites including lists, plans, and notebooks

Teams: Increased collaboration with Microsoft Teams

Working together is easier with Microsoft Teams. Tools and files are always available in one place that’s designed to help you connect naturally, stay organized, and bring ideas to life. Learn how to make the most of channels, chat, and connected apps to improve communication and deepen collaboration across teams of all sizes.

  • Stay connected with chat ​
  • Create a collaborative workspace ​
  • Accomplish more together in teams and channels 

Teams Chat and Meetings

This training focuses on Team channels and working with shared files. Channels are where work gets done—it is where you’ll find conversations, apps, and shared files.

Objectives

  • Understand shared resources in Microsoft Teams
  • Learn about owner, member, and guest capabilities
  • Organizeteamwork using channels
  • Work in channels by having conversations, sharing files, and connecting apps
  • Collaborate on shared files
