Free tool: Stickies (color notes for your desktop)

What it is: Software that provides virtual “paper notes” on your desktop

What it does: “…yellow rectangular windows onto which you can put some text notes. Once created, they will stay on screen until you take them away. Just like a real sticky piece of paper.” (developer’s description from the Stickies homepage)

Advantages and high points 

  1. Small, simple, easy to use
  2. Easy to resize and organize (click and drag)
  3. Color-coded notes; customized text (fonts, bold, etc.); allows images; clickable URLs; and more
  4. Hide all notes or roll notes up/down (like a window shade) to save desktop space
Price: Free (freeware)
