IT Update: April 2021

The Division of Information Technology staff is ready for spring and in full throttle with IT projects. We honor our amazing IT staff who are retiring this year. Collectively they have provided more than 160 years of service to K-State. Below are some of the projects we are working on. 

Networking projects include:

    • Hale Library Sunderland Foundation Innovation Lab and basement
    • McCain Auditorium Expansion
    • Multicultural Center
    • Athletics – South Endzone expansion
    • Internet fiber re-route
    • New fiber-to-core paths to National Gas Machinery Lab and Institute of Environmental Research

Smaller Scale Infrastructure Projects

    • Multiple projects to upgrade building switches and network connectivity on the Polytechnic campus
    • ICE – clinical recording system
    • Vet Med Complex – multiple projects
    • Athletics – multiple projects
    • Facilitate network rollout of ethernet credit card devices

Listening sessions have concluded for the Data Analytics Project. The team is now reviewing the assessment and findings.

Qualtrics has a new user interface designed to be more intuitive, accessible, and easy to navigate while maintaining existing functionality. Check out the Experience-First Design Updates video. You will need to sign in by clicking SSO; the organization ID is kstate (no hyphen).

Meeting Owls and Poly/Calisto sets are still available for distribution. Email Shelley Griffin shegriff@ksu.edu to request equipment. For those who have received the Meeting Owls, see the Instructions for Setting up the Meeting Owl.

Financial Information System will be unavailable from 6 p.m. Saturday, April 24, through 6 p.m. Sunday, April 25 for monthly maintenance.

HRIS, KSIS, and DARS will be unavailable from midnight – 4 a.m. on May 9. Maintenance will be performed on the Oracle PeopleSoft systems.

The FIS is undergoing a major application upgrade, with rollout slated for December 2021.

As we approach the end of the semester, the change freeze will be from 12:01 am on May 3 to 11:59 on May 18. The goal of the change freeze is to protect critical K-State enterprise systems from potentially disruptive changes to end-of-semester activities.
