Acrobat and InDesign free seminar 2-4 p.m. today for faculty/staff

K-State faculty/staff are invited to attend the free Adobe seminar 2-4 p.m. today, March 12, in Room 212 of the K-State Student Union. The seminar is co-sponsored by K-State’s Information Technology Services.

Adobe is doing double duty by providing a free seminar on campus today and also participating in K-State’s Technology Showcase on Tuesday. As one of nine vendors in the showcase, Adobe is also supplying Adobe Creative Suite Software as one of the prizes that can be won by a lucky K-State faculty/staff member at the showcase.

Registration open for free Adobe seminar March 12

Adobe representatives will be hosting a free seminar for K-State faculty/staff 2-4 p.m. Monday, March 12, in Room 212 of the K-State Student Union. The seminar is co-sponsored by K-State’s Information Technology Services. Scheduled topics:

  • 2-3 p.m. Adobe Acrobat.  Acrobat is more than just reading PDF files. Collaborate, create forms, record comments, apply security, and assemble documents into a single, branded eportfolio. Through a series of demonstrations and examples you’ll learn how easy it is to extend PDF documents for use in academia, IT, and administration.
  • 3-4 p.m. Going Mobile with Adobe Tools.  Learn how to use your InDesign skills to create content for iPads, Android tablets and epub. Explore Dreamweaver and Flash options for delivering content to multiple mobile devices.

Friday, March 9, is the registration deadline for this free event. Go to “Adobe Day for KSU” and register now to ensure you’re on the attendee list.

Spotlight: Starting a Digital Entomology Lab at K-State

C. Mike Smith, professor in the Department of Entomology, has been working with a small team to create the foundational photos for a Digital Entomology Lab, which will enhance learning in online entomology courses and which may also serve as a stand-alone digital laboratory resource.

The following slideshow highlights some of the initial work. This shows how different types of equipment, software, and processes inform the development work.
