#PrepareNow — September is Preparedness Month

September. The end of summer. Back to school. Preparedness Month.

This year’s overarching theme for National Preparedness Month is Disasters Happen. Prepare Now. Learn How. On August 24, Gov. Jeff Colyer MD signed a proclamation designating September as Kansas Preparedness Month. Events throughout the month remind Kansans to be prepared for tornadoes, floods, wildfires, blizzards and other disasters.

To coincide with national and state preparedness activities, K-State Research and Extension has challenged Kansans to prepare for emergencies and disasters during the month of September since 2013. Challenge activities and format vary from year to year.

This year’s challenge is to complete the activities on the card below. Check back here regularly — we’ll have blog posts and a weekly video with hints and helpful information related to completing the tasks!
