Microsoft stops support April 8 for Windows XP and Office 2003

Microsoft stops supporting Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Office 2003 on April 8, 2014.  This means no new security updates or assisted support through Microsoft. After this date, your computer may be more vulnerable to security risks.

Those still running versions of Windows XP SP3 and Office 2003 are strongly encouraged to contact their department IT personnel to evaluate their options as soon as possible. Computers running unsupported operating systems (Windows XP, OS X 10.5, etc.) after April 8 may be blocked from the K-State network.

Other operating systems that are not supported and should not be connected to the K-State network include:

  • Windows 95
  • Windows 98
  • Windows 98 SE
  • Windows NT 4
  • Windows 2000

Some Apple operating systems are also not permitted on the K-State network:

  • 10.4 Tiger
  • 10.5 Leopard
  • Apple operating systems older than 10.4

See K-State’s policy on computer security and software patches
(k-state.edu/policies/ppm/3400/3430.html) .
