State of Kansas policy now requires that all state employees receive annual training in IT security. K-State is in the final stages of testing and refining an online training course that will meet this requirement and be made available to all faculty, staff, and students by the end of this semester. It covers basic IT security topics everyone needs to know to properly protect K-State information as well as yourself and your colleagues.
If you prefer face-to-face instruction, the same material will be covered in a live training session 9-10 a.m. and again 10:30-11:30 a.m. this Friday, Dec. 3, in the Big 12 Room on the second floor of the K-State Student Union. Neil Sindicich, cybersecurity analyst for K-State’s central IT security team, will give the presentation. It is a repeat of the session he gave at last month’s IT security training event held in the Union and the November roundtable.
Preregistration for this event is required to reserve your seat, so register now through the HRIS website. Attendees will be checked off by Human Resources so your personnel file indicates you have met the state requirement. If you have any questions, contact Neil (neilsin@k-state.edu, 785-532-3642).
This presentation is part of SIRT’s monthly IT security roundtable discussions, which are open to all K-State faculty, staff, and students.
