Grad students and K-State writers: “Using Word to write” sessions scheduled April 16, April 23

Graduate students, faculty, and all K-State writers who want to learn more about the ins and outs of using Microsoft Word are welcome to drop by the “Using Word to write” open help session 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the west end of the K-State InfoCommons (main floor of Hale Library).  A repeat session is scheduled 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, in the same location.

Graduate students can get help with their electronic thesis/dissertation/report (ETDR) formatting issues. Everyone can get personalized solutions for their pesky Word problems. Bring your laptop (Windows or Mac) and learn about:

  • ETDR writing templates — basic Word documents with built-in timesaving features for use by any K-State writer
  • Word timesavers — Document Map, jump scrolling, Zoom view, automated-update fields, and more
  • Power tools — use styles to make a change that propagates throughout
  • Troubleshooting tips to fix page numbers, add captions, etc.

These sessions are offered by the ETDR consultants in iTAC, the Information Technology Assistance Center. Questions and requests for more information can be sent to Betsy Edwards, betsy@k-state.edu.
